The XP’s shelter offers such incredible longevity because it’s manufactured from a durable vinyl tension shell and a high-strength metal frame system. When combined, those components create a versatile shelter that is robust enough for extended use in extreme climates.

The ability to rapidly and efficiently deploy mobile facilities is paramount to effective response in the wake of natural disasters — earthquakes, tornadoes, floods — and manmade disasters, such as terrorist attacks and industrial catastrophes. The EXT Medical Trailer System sets the standard for efficient, rapid deployment.

The XP is towable by pickup or SUV. Once on site, the XP’s turnkey shelter can be installed in less than 10 minutes without the need for special tools. After it’s quickly installed, the shelter offers 520 square feet of floor space, a 15-kW diesel generator, a rugged Alaska Environmental Control Unit™ and a 65-gallon tank that holds enough fuel for up to 3 days of continuous use.

The EXT Medical Trailer System continues BLU-MED’s decade-long history of providing rapidly deployable response systems. BLU-MED mobile facilities have been field tested and proven in drills throughout the United States. They have been used for disaster and emergency response in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Europe, South America and the USA.

When a catastrophic EF5 tornado struck Joplin, Missouri in 2011, the Missouri Disaster Medical Assistance Team was able to pack up and move its 60-bed BLU-MED Field Hospital from nearby Branson to the scene of the disaster. DMAT’s ability to provide a mobile solution after the tornado destroyed Joplin’s St. John’s Mercy Hospital allowed providers to quickly resume healthcare operations.

BLU-MED’s dedication to creating response systems that are durable, rapidly deployable and versatile makes our facilities indispensible for effective emergency and disaster response and preparedness.
