A BLU-MED Medical Facility Boosts COVID-19 Vaccinations in Suffolk County

Suffolk County in New York has recently ramped up its mass vaccination efforts with the help of a mobile medical facility from BLU-MED Response Systems®.

The mobile medical facility sits outside the Dennison building in Hauppauge, itself a vaccination site, and is capable of facilitating 700 COVID-19 vaccines every day. That means that the medical facility is more than doubling Suffolk County’s daily vaccine distribution, considering that 600 shots are being delivered daily within the Dennison building.

18 immunization pods make up the vaccination clinic, although more are expected to be added with the increasing availability of shots.

So far, 40% of Suffolk County residents have received at least their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, putting the county slightly behind the current national average. The new mobile medical facility is expected to give this vaccination rate a “much-needed boost,” according to Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone.

Meanwhile, vaccination appointments are filling up fast. The BLU-MED medical facility is expected to remain in place for as long as demand for the vaccine continues.

Easy to set up, disassemble, and store for future use, medical shelter systems and mobile field hospitals from BLU-MED are ideally suited for mass vaccination efforts. For more information about BLU-MED field hospitals or our other fabric buildings, contact us today.
