RAPIDLY DEPLOYABLE NEGATIVE PRESSURE ISOLATION SHELTERS
BLU-MED Response Systems® (BLU-MED) is the world’s leading provider of rapidly deployable mobile hospitals and medical shelter systems. When equipped with Negative Pressure Isolation Systems (NPIS), our medical isolation shelters allow government agencies (all levels), hospitals, emergency management, and medical response agencies to quickly establish self-contained and climate-controlled isolation facilities …when and where needed™.
Commonly referred to as “patient isolation tents” or “negative pressure isolation tents,” our negative pressure isolation shelters are engineered to withstand wind gusts of up to 100 MPH and snow loads of up to 20 PSF, can be set up in 30 minutes, and are designed to support short- or long-term quarantine and isolation operations.
500+ Negative Pressure Isolation Systems for COVID-19 Deployed in the U.S., Canada, South America, Africa, the Middle East, and the Far East!
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) mandates the use of negative-pressure Airborne Infection Isolation, or “AII,” in the event a patient has contracted an infectious airborne disease such as Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV), Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV), influenza (Flu) outbreaks, in the event of an infectious outbreak like Ebola, or following a bio-terrorist attack.
BLU-MED medical shelters and mobile hospitals equipped with negative pressure isolation systems meet and exceed the Airborne Infection Isolation (AII) system requirements and controls all three elements of indoor air quality: particles, biologicals, and gas phase (volatile organic carbon compounds).
Key components of negative pressure isolation units from BLU-MED:
- BLU-MED Medical Shelter (20 ft. wide x 32.5 ft. long or 39 ft. long, other sizes available)
- BLU-MED ECU (2.5- or 5-ton capacity, 50 Hz and 60 Hz, exceeds the 12 air exchanges [ACH] per hour required by the CDC guidelines)
- Air Distribution System (air ducts and plenum)
- Negative Pressure Air Scrubber (with HEPA and UV germicidal filtration, filters 100% of the return air and removes 99.984% of particulates 0.3 microns or greater in size)
- Negative Pressure Sensor / Alarm System (adjustable negative pressure range of 0.01 to 0.04 inches SPWG)
- Isolation Partition (variable size patient isolation area and anteroom)
- Internal Liner System (optional insulation packages available)
- Non-slip Vinyl Floor and Sub-Flooring System
- Lighting and Electrical Distribution System (fluorescent or LED, 50 Hz and 60 Hz)
Additionally, the negative pressure isolation system can be converted to a positive pressure cleanroom.

MOBILE HOSPITALS WITH ISOLATION WARDS
BLU-MED medical shelters equipped with negative pressure isolation systems can be used as single stand-alone structures or easily expanded to create isolation wards and mobile hospitals.
During a deadly virus outbreak (i.e., the Coronavirus, Flu, Measles, or Ebola), the ability to respond with rapidly deployable and scalable medical facilities to any location in the world, is quite literally a matter of life or death.
BLU-MED medical shelters and mobile hospitals can be transported by aircraft, ship, truck, or train. We offer reusable roto-mold containers with forklift handling, man-portable carry bags, and trailer-mounted systems, including the XP Medical Response Package (capable of being set up in less than 10 minutes).
Our rapidly deployable medical facilities provide advanced-level care, including hospital surge capacity and patient isolation rooms for rapid triage, diagnostic evaluation, containment, and the treatment of patients infected with airborne diseases.
Below are sample layouts for BLU-MED mobile hospitals and isolation wards.
UPGRADE YOUR EXISTING BLU-MED MEDICAL SHELTERS WITH A NEGATIVE PRESSURE ISOLATION SYSTEM
Previous customers who purchased a BLU-MED medical shelter system or mobile hospital without a negative pressure isolation system can purchase the BLU-MED Negative Pressure Isolation System Retrofit Kit.
This retrofit kit includes the negative pressure air scrubber with HEPA and UV germicidal filtration, air ducts, isolation partition, and negative pressure sensor / alarm system.
NEGATIVE PRESSURE ISOLATION ROOMS FOR CORONAVIRUS
Information on the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and how BLU-MED medical shelters and mobile hospitals with negative pressure isolation systems are being used.
BLU-MED isolation shelters provide a safe space to screen, isolate and treat patients infected with airborne diseases outside of hospitals, urgent care facilities, and emergency rooms to stop the spread of the Coronavirus and reduce exposure to hospital staff, doctors, healthcare workers, and patients.
