BLU-MED Field Hospital: Keesler AFB Exercise Tests Medical Response To Anthrax Attack
The US Air Force 81st Medical Group (MDG) Training Wing held their annual emergency response exercise Feb. 28, 2013 near the Vandenburg Community Center, Keesler Air Force Base, in Mississippi.
The exercise demonstrated the ability to establish and operate a field symptomatic patient staging facility (BLU-MED mobile field hospital) in the aftermath of a simulated a series of anthrax attacks. BLU-MED Response Systems provided technical expertise and training during the setup of the 25-bed mobile medical facility.
The exercise was considered “overall a huge success” stated Robert Tash, 81st Medical Emergency Manager, with 629 ‘role player’ patients being processed within 2 hours.
“You and the BLU-MED Team continue to stand behind your product, service and customer relationships. That message was well heard by the Keesler Community and very much appreciated!”
